What one of our recent members thinks about being part of the Shared Garden Project.
It's been a delight for me to be a Friend of the Shared Gardens this year. I've enjoyed putting in the hard graft and being in the gardens' peaceful surroundings and working alongside some really nice like-minded people, sharing ideas and opinions as well as getting some enjoyable exercise.
But now the fruits of our labour are starting to become evident - and today I was able to go home with redcurrants, blackcurrants, gooseberries, plums, mange-touts, broad beans, carrots and potatoes!
Working alongside Karina is fun too and between us today we managed to erect a real Wallace and Gromit construction with the aim of catching the plums from the heavily-laden tree before they reach the ground and rot.
Well, fellow gardeners - see what your make of it (if it hasn't been blown down in the wind by the time you get there!). Happy gardening and happy harvesting!
