After 7 years of celebrating bonfire night in the allotments, I think we can start calling it a Traditional Shared Garden Bonfire celebration.
As per custom the children prepared jam jars with tea lights and hung them in the trees. A 'corridor' of light was created in the main path leading to the Shared Garden. The effect was magical!
Andy and Ian made a brilliant bonfire in allotment 1 with all the wood, prunings and old compost heap pallets that were in need of tidying before the onset of winter. It gave us light, warmth and a reason to celebrate the end of the season.
Everyone brought some food and refreshments and this year many people brought fireworks too. The atmosphere was wonderful. Friends, family and neighbours turned out in droves, 90 people of all ages and from all corners of the world shared and enjoyed the evening. (youngest 6 months, eldest 80 years!)
Many thanks to all those who set up and not forget all those who came early on Sunday morning to tidy up,all in true Shared Garden style.
